Dancing with the Stars is, by far, one of the hottest shows on evening television these days. Where else could you find a group of random “famous” people willing to flaunt their talent – or lack thereof?
Maksim Chmerkovskiy Controversy
This past week’s show featured not only the usual drama as the competitors worked with their professional dance partners to learn new routines, but a bit of extra flair as well. Maks had quite a bit of difficulty getting Hope to let go of her athletic side to embrace her femininity as they prepared for a difficult Rumba routine. He even brought in a group of female professionals to work with her for an entire day. While the dance was nice, it wasn’t all they had hoped it to be. While Carrie Ann and Bruno gave Hope credit for her improvements thus far, Len really brought the hammer down and stated he felt that this was her worst dance by far.
Maks, oddly enough, is the one who took the most offense to Len’s comments. Leaving Hope in the middle in a very awkward position, Maks chided Len for not giving her credit for her improvements. He stated that it was not fair that some weeks the contestants were judged on improvement while at other times they were judged on skill. He claimed the show as his own in a comment that left many wondering what he really meant. Turns out he is really emotionally invested in the show, but at the end of the day we would have preferred to see him show a little more respect towards the judges. Hopefully it was really her dance and not his harsh words that earned her the 7-6-7 shore she ended up with.
The Other Dancers
While everyone’s doing their best, there are of course a couple of competitors who really stand out from the crowd. This avid fan watched in awe as J.R. And Karina danced an incredible quickstep. Karina really turned up the heat, telling J.R. from the get-go that she was preparing the most complicated routine she’s ever attempted on the show. The judges raved about the stellar performance and the couple walked away with a 10-9-10 score.
Their closest competition for the evening was, of course, Ricki and Derek. The couple also did a quickstep that earned them comments about their terrific talent and interpretation of the music they were using. This couple also walked away with a 10-9-10.
The other couples paled in comparison, especially Chaz and Lacey, who had the worst score of the night. Lacey tried to get Chaz to tango to music from the score of The Phantom of the Opera. While I initially thought I was going to see a really dramatic dance, what I ended up seeing was really very awkward. The costumes were cool, but the movements were stiff and strange. It just wasn’t a great persona for Chaz to attempt to adopt, earning them a 7-6-6 for the night.
Next week’s show promises to be intense and this fan personally can’t wait to see how things turn out with the stars, their professional partners, and the judges. This season is on fire!
