The buzz early this week about Twitter working with Reveille and Brillstein Entertainment has proved to be true but what isn’t true is that Twitter is working with them to come up with an official Twitter reality show. According to Twitter Reveille and Brillstein have their own project and Twitter just gave agreement in order to help the entertainment company “move more freely” with whatever they need to do. This is consistent with Twitter’s philosophy of openness, which they do not want to limit just to Twitter’s use on the web and in mobile devices but also on TV. Twitter goes even so far to say that “Twitter’s open approach might have the power to transform television—the dominant communications receiver worldwide.”
As for the Twitter reality series participants wannabes though there is no official tv show just yet you can still keep your fingers crossed because according to Twitter, “Some Hollywood folks are developing something that leverages Twitter.” Twitter is not in anyway connected to these and it doesn’t automatically mean Twitter TV but who knows? Maybe someday when someone comes up with an idea that doesn’t involve celeb stalking Ashton Kutcher wouldn’t threaten to quit Twitter due to a proposed reality show and Twitter TV just might happen. For now we can all just go on happily tweeting and those that want to star in reality shows will just have to go audition on other shows.
